I started my career in dog behaviour when I was 18 by volunteering at my local dog rescue center. I was also shadowing puppy classes near me at the same time and I quickly realised how little I knew about dog behaviour!
I then went to Anglia Ruskin University where I studied BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and gained the fundamental knowledge on animal behaviour which I applied to my training methods. I then continued my educational journey by completing a post graduate certificate in Animal Behaviour, Welfare Ethics and Law at University of Winchester.
I am a proud member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT - M01587) since 2022. Being a part of the APDT means I meet the learning and understanding requirements to be a part of the ABTC (Animal Behaviour and Training Council). I am also on the APDT committee board and I help with membership benefits as I want to promote ethical dog training as much as I can. In 2023 I completed the Aggression in Master Course by Michael Shikashio so I am now able to provide owners with help for their aggressive and reactive dogs.
In 2025, I passed my application as a provisional Clinical Animal Behaviourist with the Association of Pet Behaviour counsellors (APBC). Provisional members have demonstrated that they have the appropriate level of Knowledge and Understanding for the professional role of Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB). They are now gaining the practical experience necessary to be assessed as a CAB and therefore become a Full member of the APBC. The APBC supports its Provisional members undertaking behaviour consultations.
I also work at my local vets as the Client Care Team Manager and I recently started helping VetPartners by sharing my knowldge on canine behaviour and how it can be applied in aveterinary setting.
I share my home with a 7 year old Goldendoodle called Bruce who loves scentwork, mantrailing and hydrotherapy!
